Day 1 – From home to Indiana
April 7, 2025
We’re off on another camper adventure. This time to Eastern Texas. We are looking for some warm weather because spring is slow coming to Michigan this year. We also plan on visiting some historic sites; indian mounds, the Alamo, LBJ’s Texas ranch, the Clinton Library and JFK Museum in Dallas. We want to remember that we once had presidents that actually cared about this country.
We got the camper loaded and hit the road after lunch. We took a short frolicking detour at Indian Mounds State Park east of Indy. These mounds are surrounded by large hardwoods next to a swollen river making for a lovely, but chilly walk. The mounds were built by Native American people between 800 BC - 400 AD. If it wasn’t for the signs and boardwalk into the biggest mound, they would be hard to pick out from the natural hilly terrain.
Tonight we are at Lieber State Recreation Area. We are the only ones here, I guess it’s early for camping in Indiana, it’s only 40 degrees. Good thing the camper has a good heater. Night, night!

Low was in the 20’s but we were cozy warm in the camper. Beautiful morning, the redbuds are blooming.
